JAM, Host

JAM is an acoustic singer-songwriter recording out of Jack Johnson’s Plastic Plant Studio in Hollywood, California. His EP, produced by Grammy award winning producer, Robert Carranza will be released in 2018. This young artist has shared the bill with Flogging Molly, Death Cab for Cutie, Fitz & the Tantrums and many more at the Pot of Gold Music Festival.

Added to these accomplishments, JAM has opened for The Wailers and worked with Alice Cooper recording a demo for Hollywood Vampires. He has performed at venues such as: Whisky Go-Go, The Marquee Theatre, Celebrity Theatre, Alice Cooperstown, and many other notables.

Lelea Fonua is a self-taught 16-year-old singer/songwriter/musician who started performing at age nine. After two short months of playing his ukulele, he started performing regular gigs. Since then, he has open concerts for – Jordin Sparks, Gavin Degraw, Alice Cooper, Common Kings, Kiss, Motley Crue, Joan Jett, LA GUNS, TV performances (Channel 3,10, 12 & 15) Alice Cooper commented on a television appearance with Lelea, said “Its easy to sing, it’s not easy to be a stylist, and he(Lelea) has already got style…it’s not normal for your age…and that is really amazing…you can’t learn that, you’re born with that”   Sheryl Cooper said ‘”He has the IT factor. He has an energy that is infectious, watch out for this guy”

Lelea won first place for Alice Cooper’s Proof is in the Pudding 2013 talent competition (super stars Jordin Sparks and Destini Quinn were previous winners)

In 2012, Lelea submitted an entry to an online competition for Kidz Star USA. He was selected as one of eight finalists out of 50,000 entries across USA.  All eight of the finalists were flown to Hollywood to compete for a recording contract with RCA records.  Here he worked with multi-platinum artist Gavin DeGraw and Nickelodeon’s Ashley Argota.


Sophie Dorsten

Spohie is a 15 year old singer/songwriter from the Phoenix area. Sophie performs all over the valley at festivals and venues including The Grand Central Coffee Co, Alice Cooperstown, Queen Creek Olive Mill, Rebel Lounge, SoZo Coffee House, Rebel Lounge, and many more. She also performed at the Marquee Theatre for the first time in August 2017. This past Spring Training season Sophie performed the National Anthem at both a Chicago Cubs and LA Dodgers game. Sophie was a semi-finalist in Alice Cooper’s Proof is in the Pudding competition last fall. She released her first CD titled “Beauty of the Heart” in May 2016 which you can find on iTunes. She released her first music video to the title song “Beauty of the Heart” in May 2017. Sophie has a Facebook page as well as Instagram and Twitter at Sophie Dorsten Music.


Kailin Kay

Kailin is a 14-year-old singer from Phoenix, Arizona. She has been singing and playing around the area for 5 years now, in venues such as Desert Ridge Marketplace, the Orpheum Theatre and Alice Cooperstown. Although guitar is her main source of focus, she also plays piano, bass and ukulele. Kailin is excited to have such a great opportunity to work with some fantastic musicians.

The Listening Room Phoenix is centrally located in midtown Phoenix AZ and is open to audiences who appreciate great acoustic music Some performances are ticketed and some are donation-based where participating audiences are encouraged to make at least a $20 donation to the artist and venue. This will go a very long way in keeping each artist on their path to success and keeping The Listening Room a healthy destination for great music in Phoenix.
