DARRIN KOBETICH (WITH PAUL BARTON)
ALLURING ACOUSTIC ORIGINALS
SATURDAY, JUL 29 @ 7PM
$20 SUGGESTED DONATION
Darrin performs six and 12 string Larrivee and Martin for an all-instrumental finger style performance, with influences from Appalachian to Arabic tones and between, including slide and percussive tapping/harmonics.
“Darrin Kobetich is a masterful player and deserves a much wider recognition than the regional success he currently enjoys. Free is just the musical offering that should expose this artist to a broader audience. The recording is an alluring and assessable collection of original acoustic instrumentals and is highly recommended for all listeners of contemporary music.”- James Scott, Minor 7th (Dec 28, 2015)
“His fluid, fervent playing is the common link — Kobetich, as always, excels at conjuring vivid images with nothing more than his fingers plucking guitar strings — and Free unfolds like a pleasing ramble into the great wide open ( Moonlit Country Driveway is particularly breathtaking). A striking sonic postcard.”- By Preston Jones, DFW.com (Sep 23, 2015)
“It’s his first album recorded in a studio (Fort Worth Sound) with a producer (Bart Rose), and it showcases all of his signature strengths — flatpicking facility, percussive syncopation, chiming harmonics, and a flair for exotic scales — in a frame as spacious as the wide open vistas Da Kobe has encountered on his travels.”- Ken Shimamoto, Stashdauber (Aug 12, 2015)
Paul has been playing guitar for nearly 40 years. He played in blues, jazz and rock bands throughout his junior high, high school and college years in Iowa and Nebraska, and then discovered the fiery passion and beauty of flamenco/rumba solo guitar after moving to Arizona.
Over the past five years, Mr. Barton has been performing fiery flamenco guitar songs, romantic rumbas and blissful blues at art galleries, coffee houses, wine bistros, restaurants and wedding receptions. Audiences appreciate that they can carry on a conversation while enjoying the relaxing and soothing sounds of this beautiful guitar music.
Most of Paul Barton’s music is original. On many selections, Mr. Barton combines original backing tracks and live solos to give him the sound of a one-man band. In addition to his original music, Mr. Barton also performs finger-style acoustic arrangements of many instantly recognizable classic rock songs from the 1970s and 1980s.
